To know Sadie is to love her. And for sure, there is a lot of Sadie to love!
This eight-year-old Chow Chow mix was surrendered to NEAS when her owner passed away and family members were unable to care for her. Described as a “certified couch potato,” Sadie was extremely overweight and did not enjoy exercise… why move when you can just relax instead? When coaxed into going for a walk, she demanded lots of rest breaks and time for petting and cuddles.

Stubborn? You bet! But Sadie was also a big sweetheart who won the hearts of our staff with her antics, such as lying down in the street when she didn’t like the route taken!
Because Sadie already had ligament damage and mobility issues, it was important to find an adopter who would firmly and lovingly help her reach a healthier weight – and she did! Her family tells us that Sadie is still up to her “old tricks” – plopping and stopping on their walks – and that she is also starting to lose weight.
We can’t wait to see her transformation!
