Charlie, a 12-year-old cat, led a content life in a home with another feline friend. But Charlie’s world turned upside down when his owner moved out of state and he was surrendered to our shelter. Poor Charlie was devastated and decided to go on a hunger strike!

We suspected his lack of appetite was stress-related, so Charlie was given medication to encourage him to eat, and he received lots of attention from staff and volunteers. A medical exam revealed Charlie also had a grade 2 heart murmur, but fortunately he experienced no clinical signs, so no treatment was deemed necessary.

All this cuddly, playful lap cat needed was a new home to make him feel safe and secure again. And that didn’t take long to happen. Within a month, this handsome gentleman was adopted by a loving family who will make sure his golden years are happy once again.
