For Ighvee, a Kelpie/Shepherd mix, life had never been easy.

For her and her owner, home was nothing more than a tent alongside a rural road in Georgia. Eventually, Ighvee’s owner realized he couldn’t provide for his companion and — with her best interest in mind — surrendered her to one of Northeast Animal Shelter’s lifesaving partners. Recognizing that Ighvee had clearly sustained significant trauma at some point, they reached out to NEAS for help, and we arranged to transport her to our Shelter.

Our veterinary team carefully examined Ighvee and after reviewing her xrays, confirmed that the old fractures in her front leg hadn’t healed properly, and the fractures in her skull resulted in permanent eye damage. Although these injuries could not be repaired with reconstructive surgery, Ighvee would still be able to enjoy a good quality of life. She was ready to find a loving home and start her exciting next chapter!

Described as a playful, spunky girl who has a lot of love to give, we were not surprised that Ighvee was quickly adopted. After all, who could resist her sweet face and friendly personality?

They say that home is where the heart is, and for Ighvee, home is now a warm, safe place with a comfy bed, lots of toys, healthy food, and a caring human who gives her all the love she deserves.

Each year, thousands of innocent pets come through our doors looking for a place to call home, and thanks to your support, we’re able to make their dreams a reality.
