Glue has certainly had a long, winding road to her forever home.

First adopted from Northeast Animal Shelter in 2016, she arrived back at NEAS two years later… Sadly, after her owner became very ill and was hospitalized, Glue was left alone in the apartment for a week, where local animal control found her hungry and with serious skin issues.

Once back at the Shelter, Glue received the medical care she desperately needed. Despite any discomfort she may have felt, her sweet disposition never wavered… she just wanted to be snuggled all day long.

Glue was a staff favorite, which is why everyone was so excited when she found what we hoped would be her new forever home. A few weeks later, our hopes were dashed when Glue’s new family decided that owning a dog was more than they could handle. We started to wonder if Glue would ever get a break…

But Glue’s luck was about to change! In December, a woman named Ashley brought her dog, Dis, to our “Paws with Claus” event (wearing matching pajamas). When they walked in the room, our staff looked at Dis and wondered, “Is that Glue?” The resemblance was uncanny – Dis looked like Glue’s identical twin!

Ashley told us she had adopted Dis from NEAS three years ago when he was just a puppy. We immediately brought Glue in, and it was love at first sight! The next day, Ashley was filling out Glue’s adoption paperwork.

Glue and Dis now go on hikes together, and they absolutely adore each other. This happy family sticks together like, well, glue!

Unfortunately, not all adoptions are forever, but we never give up on finding the right home for every adoptable cat and dog in our care.
